Stash Up Yarns and *Giveaway*

If there were a hand-painted yarn heaven, it might very well be called "Stash up Yarns". Do you want bright yarn? Stash up has it. Something more subdued..? Find it at stash up! The passion (I refer to this in my daily vernacular as "vibe") Nina exudes from her work is worth the yarn purchase, let alone the prodigious color options she offers. The samples she sent in are so fragrant (she uses organic lavender wool wash) and beautiful, they seemed to arrived from the celestial concourse. I know, I may sound a little "too" much in love with yarn, but keep reading.
I would love to take a clippit from her etsy shop profile:
"It was just a few years ago that I became intrigued by knitting and yarn. In a very short period of time I turned into a yarn addict. I scoured the Internet for any and all yarn shops local and virtual. I spent unseemly amounts of money on yarn and needles and patterns. And here I am even more addicted to knitting and to yarn than I have ever been before. The very idea of winding a hank into a center pull ball using my improvised nostepinne gives me a thrill. And even though I have already purchased every current knitting publication I never fail to revisit that section of the magazine racks because the sight of a knitting magazine is truly a joy to behold. And its contents even more fascinating to read and peruse again and again. The next leg in this pursuit of yarn fiber has led me to hand-dyeing yarn. Dyeing may keep me away from knitting, but who cares? As long as yarn is in the picture, nothing else seems to matter."
This sounds like an artist who has found a true calling! Let this be a warning to all of you. Once you start surrounding yourself with quality yarns in amazing colors, you'll soon find yourself addicted. Nina, the brilliant woman she is, has enabled all of us to make a purchases by naming her yarn "Stash UP". That means you don't have to have a project in mind when buying- stash enhancement at it's best! 10000 Thank you's to Nina of Stash Up Yarns, Please Please join us for future boxes!
You all had better love me too, because I am about to offer up and entire 400 yd hank of absolutely deliciously dyed 2ply "Stash Up yarns" Sock yarn in "Samira". This has taken immense self control on my part and you all should be proud. Contest details: Go to Stash Up Yarns, find something you like, and write about it here. Let's really let Nina know how much we appreciate her awesomeness! Blog, tweets, plurks, and forum entries counts you for 2 posts. Drawing will be held on Monday Morning!! Remember to leave and identifying mark, and good luck!

  6. Oh wow, I definitely have a favorite (although it was hard) but my favorite is the sea fig colorway. It's simply beautiful. It makes me think of tidal pools in summer.

  7. The antique denim silk color... WOW... I just love it! Every time I look at it I get warm, comfortable feelings... I can so easily picture a pair of lacey socks, lounging on the day bed, in front of the window knitting or drinking tea while the snow falls outside. Thanks for showing me another site to get unique yarn!

  11. Oh WOW theres over 500 yards in some of her hanks! BEAUTIFUL colours! Its taking me enormous self restraint not to buy them all up now, but I've added her to my faves. I'm on a yarn diet right now (only knitting from stash for a few months *cry* but in the future I WILL be ordering from Stash Up Yarns! Definitely!

AND her colour names are FANTASTIC!

  13. WOW!! I'm torn between the ORGANIC (she has organic yarn, YAY!) merino wool in Alyosha and the merino bamboo in Verlaine. And such generous portions too. The way she describes her obsession rings very familiar with me, perhaps I have a lost twin....? hmmmm....

  14. I LOVE the description and ethic...a new "favorite seller" for sure!

I looked at every photo. Talk about a candy store! :)

The Petit Trianon grabbed me even before I saw the name- and a view of the Petit Trianon has been my laptop wallpaper for the past year. Kinda seems like fate, doesn't it? (Kind of seems like a request for an enabling push, doesn't it???)

Also drawn to Golden Hill. Both are blends I want to try for socks. I'll be visiting this etsy shop again.

Thanks for the chance at a giveaway!

  24. What a great site - it's so much fun to find new sources of yarn, though my pocket book says otherwise!

My faves of the moment would have to be Antique denim 100% Silk noil & Georgina Handpaint 50% Alpaca/50% Blue Faced Leicester - to die for~!

  27. Gunny Sack handpainted yarn. Wow! Do kids today even know what a gunny sack is? Are you dating yourself here? LOL. Anyway, I love it. I remember having gunny sack races as a kid. Wouldn't having a pair of socks out of these change the idea of gunny sack racing? Fun, huh?! I don't have a blog but you can find me on Ravelry as atwhittzend. Beautiful yarns BTW. Happy knitting.

  33. hmm! I would love some sock yarn... The Scintilla colourway on the lovely shiney bamboo sock yarn looks beautiful. It reminds me of the illustrations in a copy of sleeping beautiful when I was younger.. these feminine pinks but this rustic classic sense to it. I don't know. It's just beautiful.

  34. The Betulia Bright sock yarn is, quite possibly, the most beautiful pink yarn I've ever seen. The older I get, and the more entrenched in mothering two boys I get, the girlier and pinklier my life gets. I'd hang the Betulia from a chandelier just for the color, but to make socks from it? Be still my heart!

  35. Oh my, so much for my resolution to buy no yarn in 2009 - the Ex Marinus is so divine and the Scintilla even LOOKS so soft and the colours shimmer even on the screen. I've blogged about Nina as well : www.scarybaby.blogspot.com Thank you for sharing this site with us!

  53. Her site is purely color heaven. Can have lace fantasies indeed about her laceweight.
But the most impressive thing about her yarns is that she also offers organic/Green yarns. I must commend her for this because it's not as easy as one would think.

  54. I am definately a yarnaholic and could get myself into some serious trouble at Stash Up Yarns! If I could buy one of everything I would. I'm pleased she has organic items on her site also!

  55. I love these sock yarns and although my favorite (at the moment) is "Noirmoutier," all of the color combos are so beautifully put together that it is hard to choose which I want first. The yardage is generous (500 yds.) and it even smells good. Lavender. Yum! I am dehbiknits on Ravelry and I'll go now and visualize being the "chosen one" for tomorrow's drawing! and thanks for even having a drawing!

  61. It is all so GORGEOUS, but I would probably want to choose FROLIC. I live in Iowa, and my home was severely damaged in the flooding we suffered here this past summer. I am still in the process of repairing and rebuilding, so I can move back in. I lost some of my own stash to the foul floodwaters. FROLIC has such light, cheerful, happy colors, and the name reminds me that happier times are yet to come (and I WILL have time to sit, knit and enjoy again ...)

  64. All exquisite, but I love the Scintilla Bamboo Silk--I love bamboo, can't get enough of it, and I absolutely love the colorway. I make jewelry, so the metallic colors in a nice soft squishy yarn just pulls me in. The yarn doesn't sparkle like shiny jewelry, but you can't squish a necklace. Okay, maybe you can, but only ONCE.

And then pick up your two circs and this sensational sock yarn and
    knit up a sockie scarf
    sockie socks
    sockie shawl
    sockie belt
oh my god just send me the simply sensational sock yarn skein from your stash and I'll knit up the most fantabulous something with it.......
I just completed chemo, declared myself a survivor (if only one as of a few weeks) cured for sure and will knit up a celebration something sinfully delicious with this sock yarn skein.....
....and then I'm gonna get me some more sock yarn skeins from her etsy shop because wow what a sight....all those colors, all those blends, all those skeins that keep me thinking....just knit up one or two or a few more socks or scarves or shawls or well whatever my imagination and creativity will allow.......
