Ooooh Ooooh Ooooh!!!
I need to tell you all about a brand new shop that has some things you really need to try!! Betty, the artist/spinner/mastermind behind Sheeps of Egyptian Cotton has sent in 2 mini hanks of her handspun cotton for you all to try as her samples! I am going to tell you- it is so hard for me to comprehend this is all handspun! It is so even and the colors are so pretty- think of the best commercial cotton you've experienced and then try to envision it spun by hand! Betty has officially bumped cotton up to a "luxury" yarn! Her prices are incredible and she offers handspuns in other fibers as well.
Betty has generously offered up 4 skeins of her Isis cotton handspun yarn as a giveaway! Please visit Sheeps of Egyptian Cotton find something you like, and post about it here! Plurks, tweets, youtube videos, blogposts, rav forum posts all count towards second entries! Make sure there is a way for me to find you in case you win, on Friday, when I"ll be drawing for all the giveaways this week!
Betty will also be featured in March's sampler box, but we all hope she continues to contribute!
It's really hard to pick a favourite, because the cotton really intrigues me - never felt handspun cotton before. I do like the pastel colourways she has, especially Sylvia's Mother, and I am mesmerised by the lovely tencel blend skein in a lovely shade of green... and you're not kidding about the prices, that's crazy low!
ReplyDeleteThat is some drop dead gorgeous spinning there! Another hard choice to make, but I'm loving the Rosebud - Isis cotton. It reminds me of a peace rose we had growing on the side of the house I grew up in. Good memories.
ReplyDeleteI love the subtle colors of the Ocean Beach- Isis Cotton colorway. Reminds me of my favorite beach spots :-)
ReplyDeleteSylvia's Mother - Isis Cotton - lovely palette! Thanks for the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteNot surprisingly, given my love for both green and BFL, Meadowbrook really calls out to me.
ReplyDeleteDragon Horde - Isis Cotton... Beautiful. However, all the yarns on the page were beautiful lol. So hard to pick.

*blushes* Thanks all. I luvs what I do. As for low prices, I have a chronic illness. I spin/dye/whatever to take my mind off it. Think of it as my pain medication.
ReplyDeleteMore being posted this week, so come on back.

I love the Green Green Grass of Home - Hand spun BFL.
ReplyDeleteI love them all, but Cheshire Smile made ME smile. Lovely, lovely stuff.
ReplyDeleteI am an unabashed fan of Betty. Lovely person, lovely work. The colors are so beautiful but I like "Seawall" not only because I can almost hear the waves in the color but because I think we were exchanging pictures during that trip!
ReplyDeleteI just bought some Ocean Beach and Rosebud. Can't wait to see it!

I've been to her etsy shop before & faved many of her items, I think my favorite at the moment is the Green Green Grass yarn: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20489319
ReplyDeleteIt is all so lovely though!!
I think all the yarns are really lovely, and if I have to choose a favorite, I guess it's the Lake Michigan Twilight.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the Green Green Grass of Home Handspun BFL. I can see the softness in the photo! The muted green colors are gorgeous!

Oooh, I love dragon horde, and I also love Seawall (very peaceful color) but my favorite is Green Green Grass of Home. What a beautiful color.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to make a pretty reusable grocery bag and I think something like Primary Election would be perfect. Having a shopping bag like that would be a great treat on grocery day.
ReplyDeleteEverything is soo beautiful!!! I guess my favorite would have to be Meadowbrook because I just want to sink into that yummy green.
ReplyDeleteThe Chesire Smile has me grinning, makes me want to go to Wonderland!
ReplyDeleteI loved the Green Grass of Home so much that I snapped it up! It's perfect for a project I have planned and it's hard to find that kind of yardage in handspun or hand dyed for that matter.
ReplyDeleteThis one's easy - the Ocean Beach colorway is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI wish my handspun looked this good...
I am also quite intrigued by the handspun cotton. It is hard to pick a favorite as she uses great colors. I like everything from the Primary Election brights to the subtle pastel shades.

Once more I am attracted to the pinks, Sylvia's Mother and Attar of Roses. I must get something on the needles for Knit for the Cure. This cotton would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I bought 2 skeins of Sylvia's Mother. Thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteI love all of her colors. Now I gotta find a pattern to use some of her cotton yarn on

but also the pink handspun!
Wow, once again great stuff. This site has been awesome for me for finding new fibers, but terrible on the ol pocket book. I really like her primary election, it looks like it would make a great kids scarf or hat set. Her prices are also amazing, really easy on the pocket book.
ReplyDeleteI also posted about this contest and all your other contests and about the Phat fiber box on my blog.

ReplyDeleteI am in lov ewith "Primary Election" - what a fun washcloth that would make - it would brighten up my every day!
ReplyDeleteAll of the colorways were so lovely it was hard to choose. But as I am forever in love with the color green I will have to say that I like the Meadowbrook Handspun BFL the best.
ReplyDeleteI never worked with handspun cotton before, this will have to be put on my to do list.
I'm torn between the merino/tencel in tealish-gray and the meadowbrook BFL. These prices are amazing, I'm actually showing some amazing will power by not going back for the merino/tencel. I'm in the middle of doing taxes and don't know how much I'm getting back yet. I will have to make another visit when the check comes!
ReplyDeletep.s. I'm totally twittering about this!
I really like the Dragon Horde colorway!! Those are my colors.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the meadowbrook, but I bookmarked the site because it's all just so pretty! Think of the cute baby hats/booties etc.
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow!! How do you expect anyone to pick just one favorite thing?? I love her colors. If I had to pick favorites, I think I would choose Seawall, which is a wool yarn, Ocean Beach, which is cotton, and Dragon Horde, which is also cotton. Her prices are too good to be true!! I will definitely be keeping an eye on her store. I am HeatherD on Ravelry.
ReplyDeleteI think the meadowbrook and seawall are hard to chose for favs. They are both near and dear colors to my heartstrings. Methinks a splurge is in order soon for some of this. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Ocean Beach Isis cotton is so pretty! and the prices seem great, tempted to just buy this skein now!
ReplyDeleteOMG...that Dragon's Horde is beautiful! I've just been contemplating a cotton project for summer...hmmm
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! The Attar of Roses is phenomenal!!! Made me feel calm just looking at it!
ReplyDeleteDragon Horde is lovely! I'm trying hard to leave it in the shop (heh, heh) so that others can see it during the giveaway and be inspired to buy later. But it's hard...
