Carolyn is a Mom of 6! Again, I marvel at how these women do it! But between piano lessons and soccer games blossoms the beautiful flower of a shop, GreeenWoodFiberWorks! I think when you visit, you'll agree it is like sitting in a fibery garden full of rovings, batts and handspun!
I am very much in love with all of Carolyn's colorways-but something about the "Lavender Hedgerow" just sings to my soul!
I'm thrilled beyond measure to be able to offer up as a giveaway, 4 oz of Carolyn's "Watercolors" merino roving. Beatuiful, watery and mysterious! Please visit GreenwoodFiberWorks and find something that speaks to you! Write about it in the comments section below and be entered to win the roving late tomorrow. To help spread the word about this beautiful shop, please consider blogging or facebooking, twittering and plurking about this giveaway!
Thank you so much, Carolyn, for all you do- and for being wonderfully creative and inspirational! We look forward to your next box contributions!
Blue eyes and crocus are absolutely georgeous!
ReplyDeleteI tweeted the contest also.
ReplyDeleteHoly gorgeous fiber. I think I'd try out her sample pack - I bet some of those would look lovely spun up together.
ReplyDeleteoooo~ it all is soo pretty. im going to have to say retro girl is my favorite!~ i love the inspiration for the colors!
ReplyDeleteWow what a tough choice but if I have to pick one it would be the Moutain air colorway. The sampler is great too!

Oooh, I love Copper Hills, Dragon Scales, Intense Retro Girl, and Blue Eyes!
ReplyDeleteThese colors are amazing!
I definitely will be tweeting.
As a spinner, I like that she has a sampler. But the Dragon Scales screams out to me BUY ME! I also like Spring is in the Air since the colours are nice and cheerful on a overcast day here in the DC area.
ReplyDeleteThey recently became one of my Etsy Fiber Faves. I ordered a couple of bits of roving from them and they are GORGEOUS! My next purchase from them is my 3rd favorite from their shop (I've already purchase my 1st and 2nd favorite). It's the Lavender Hedgegrove roving... however, their sampler would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteOoo! I love the Copper Hills colorway and also the Desert Sunrise batts! Very pretty colors!
ReplyDeleteDragonscales was my favorite, and I was very tempted by the sampler.
ReplyDeleteThese actually make me want to learn to spin - especially Copper Hills (thanks wildwoodflwr for tweeting)
ReplyDeleteEverything speaks to me. My fav is ARCADE handspun.
ReplyDeleteI'll post this on my blog

What is there not to love in her shop! I've already bought some of her retro girl and crocus which I absolutly adore. I've got my eyes on some of her watercolor colorways right now; especially the one that is red/plum/orange in color. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all her fiber!!
ReplyDeleteOH - wow, I LOVE the Northern Lights Batt.
ReplyDeleteThe other batts are lovely too.
I'm so excited about this shop, she makes beautiful braids. I actually got one with my box and have it sitting next to my spindle to start. I was going to do it last night but over did it at the gym and couldn't move my arms. lol
ReplyDeleteI desperately want lavender hedgerow.
Carolyn is the first person I ever bought roving from and I will always be a loyal customer of hers. As a matter of fact, I have some "lavender hedgerow" on my spindle as we speak. I got some of it plyed and it looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteSince Earthen Hues seems to be sold (and she just recently put it up), I'm going to say my favourites are lavender hedgerow and gentle breeze (she has some spun, but it's one of her amazing colourways).
Posting to Facebook and Twitter as well.

PS Here's a little secret...Carolyn was the one that led me to Phat Fiber.
As always, it's so hard to choose a fav, and this clever shop lets us avoid that with the Sample Box (where have I heard that before?).
ReplyDeleteIU"ve added it to my blog.

ReplyDeleteWow, her colors are so vibrant!!! I would have to choose Watercolors :)
ReplyDeleteRetweeted :)
I first found out about Greenwood Fiber Works on a trip to Utah. While at a local shop (three wishes) I bought two braids and immediately spun them up. The roving spins up very easily which is great for a beginner like me. After finishing the first braid I decided to buy more roving and asked Carolyn if she could do something like "Blue eyes". We chatted about this one day and then the next day she had it dyed up! I also bought one of her sample boxes which I highly recommend. You get 8 mini-braids ("pigtails") which are so cute! I should have bought two boxes. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll be back later today to post a link to my blog where I'll have examples of the roving that I spun up. I bought one called "watercolor" which I understand are one of a kind rovings that are made from dye that is left over at the end of the session. There are so many nice colors that I can't wait to see how the finished yarn will look.
I love the Copper Hills colorway. But I always like to go look at the sold items and I'm sure glad she sold the Calypso roving because I can't afford to buy it right now and if it was available, I would HAVE to!
ReplyDeleteIRIS Handspun Hand-dyed Merino Wool Yarn in Skinny Singles looks like my irises in the garden - what a great shawl it would make.

ReplyDeleteCopper Hills and Crocus are my favorite rovings. So pretty!!
ReplyDeleteThe Blue Eyes roving and yarn both really appeal to me (I wonder if I could get yarn as nice as that if I spun the roving - my skills might not be up to it).
ReplyDeleteCrocus, fur sure! Love x 1000!
ReplyDeleteImmediately Crocus caught my eye. Then, I found Intense Retro Girl. What beautiful and unusual colorways!

I absolutely loved what she had sent! Her shop is great! :)
ReplyDeleteThe tussah silk roving in "Painted Rainbow" is to die (dye) for! Also the Merino roving in "Crocus" is demanding that I buy it. Last but not least, since I will soon be making my own drum carded batts I was drawn to (and quite impressed with) the "Desert Sunrise" batt. An amazingly talented lady, that Carolyn!

ReplyDeleteI am Carolyn's biggest fan! (And her lil sis). Many wonderful hours in her fiber studio - whether it is sipping tea in between knitting or (for me) hand-spinning on a spindle. Many hours on her front porch with the open Utah views, in the enclosed flower filled front garden. A beautiful life shows through in her wonderful fiber.
