I think it was Rumi, who said "Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment".
Every time peek into Cris' shop Into the Whirled, I seem to sit here with my jaw hanging as I scroll through her listings. No cleverness and extra distractions there, just simple and abundant beauty.
If you've purchased a batt from Cris, you'll understand when I say they are really huggable! I really love that she uses a lot of Falkland (I'm off to buy just a soon as I finish this post tee hee). More than the softness of the wools and neatness of her batts, her deeply saturated colors truly speak to me.
Cris has so generously sent in a big huggable batt of Falkland (4.4 oz) called "Mercer's Peir" for a giveaway! I know I'm asking a lot (hee hee!) but I need to you to visit Into the Whilred and find something you like. Write about it in the comments section below and we'll draw for a name on Saturday! Please help us get the word out about this stunning shop, by tweeting, using facebook and ravelry- remember I always count those as extra entries!
Cris, I am truly spellbound by your store. I am proud to have you a part of our group! Thank you, Thank you!
I think that the scrap roving is super awesome: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25838513
ReplyDeleteIt would be great to just be surprised by whatever shows up!!
I just finished my first braid, Floatin' Daisies, from Cris. I also have a falkland batt that will be spun very soon. My eye was caught by the Sherbert Merino this time. We've been convo-ing through Twitter, and Cris is very sweet! I am thrilled to see her recommended on your site. :) Nicole
ReplyDeleteI spun up Into the Whirled's -Mercer's Pier- sample from last month's box. It was _amazing_ and the colors exquisite. Cris' store is so beautiful. I don't know what I like more, the photographs or the fiber. Okay the fiber. And I want the Scraps!
ReplyDeleteLove the merino in the monkey mittens!!
ReplyDeleteLike the Chocolate Raspberry, but my favorite is the - SCRAPS. I love grab bag/ surprises :)
ReplyDeleteCindy
(I think one of them will be coming here soon...)
Found you through Jessalu on Twitter. Really gorgeous fiber in Into the Whirled's shop. I would spin any of the listings, but my two favorites are Poseidon and Suffolk. Poseidon for the color family and the grey-blueness of it. Suffolk for the cheerful purple and vintagey look.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say it's way too easy to find something I love... but I love it all so what do I talk about here? There is something about the combination of bright and dark in the Sherbert roving (merino) - I just think it would be the most gorgeous two ply.
ReplyDelete:)
These contests are dangerous to my pocketbook. I love the scraps collection, and am fighting myself to keep from purchasing it (I have more fiber than I can spin this summer, and I just started spinning on Saturday!). I also love the "Salmon Jumping" roving - both the colors, which are so happy, and the name!
ReplyDeleteRT'ing your Tweet.
That Midnight Siesta merino roving is incredibly pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving First Chance and Larger than Life. Must check out the bank account ...
ReplyDeleteFirst Chance is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! The last thing I needed was more fiber but...
ReplyDeleteHooked by the colors, I just bought a bunch of Cris' roving and a batt and some scraps! Why do you always show us such beautiful temptations, oh magic Phat Fiber Box?!

I love how her batts look like snails! My fave is this batt. I also love this BFL roving.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited that she does a lot of falkland too! I on a major falkland fixation right now. My favorite colorways are the wine bowl and the waterlillies. I especially like the side view on the waterlilies
ReplyDeletehttp://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26383548
But I am very curious about the batts as well. Off to look up what others have down with them on ravelry!
I am captivated by her photos of her batts - they look angelic, glowing, like life is about to spring forth (in the form of yarn, of course). I love the Sensation batt colors. I also love the Mineral Pool top, and now I'm looking at the sold items and loving the It's Autumn Again top, and Amaranth, and the Mango Margarita batt, and I'd better stop looking now.

I guess I'm feeling indecisive because I'd go for her sampler pack. It's like getting to taste all the ice cream flavors.

I like the Dreamscape 1 wool braid that she has and also the 4 0z of scraps. I think the scraps would be good for practice on my wheel. I will mention her shop on my new blog.
ReplyDeleteWow--it's difficult to pick just one favorite! Dreamscapes I in merino top is beautiful, and so is Jellybean. I also love the scraps bundle!
ReplyDeleteLovely colors, Do I have to pick one? Ok if I do I pick Dreamscapes.
ReplyDeleteGosh, that was hard to choose. I'm picking the merino "Boiceville" -- I love the hot lime in with the rest.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shop!
Emerald Queen and Pumpernickel are wonderful! I love the dye technique she uses and her photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI liked Pixiedust, woodstock, and awakening.

the awakening colors... gorgeous! I love the way the batt is laid out too, so you can see the gradual change in colors
Her colors are incredible! I am in love with "Water Lillies." I like the titles she gives to her rovings/batts as well. Thanks for so many beautiful things!

The Dreamscapes 1 braid has a sense of luminosity that I just love. I've had Into the Whirled on my Etsy favorites, but for some reason I thought she was overseas - glad I took a second look and realized she's in the US (only because I like to maximize my purchase $ with lower shipping costs).
ReplyDeleteI bought some of the merino before for a gift. I had to try it first, of course, so I ordered some for me too. It spins yummy. I love the presentation of the batts-they look like spiral shells. I like the idea of rolling the braids to look like something one can eat. Anything from these folks is wonderful.
ReplyDeletespellbound is the perfect description! I def bookmarked this store! Love the "Storm"!!
ReplyDeleteI think wine bowl and pumpernickel are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love everything she does. If I had to pick just one, I adore the colors in Chocolate Raspberry.

ReplyDeleteWine Bowl is my fave, but I have to give a mention to Posideon as well, very lovely

I've been lurking for a few months now and have yet to get in on a box, but I looked at "Into the Whirled" and fell in love with the scraps. I've favorited the shop and the item to come back to when I get ready to crochet some thrummed mittens.
ReplyDeleteAndrea aka SpringSplndr on Ravelry
hmmmm.... my favorite, for the moment, is Clown Shoes! and the scraps would be fun to play with too.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks awesome!! I love the Fuzzy bumps Merino roving and the Falkland wool batt in Storm!!
ReplyDeleteThe 56s Falkland wool batt called "Sensation" attracted my eye--I just love teal, lilac, purple, and lavender together!
ReplyDeleteI can't keep up with how quickly merchandise comes and goes at this shop! I've seen several wonderful rovins, then poof! they're gone a few hours later. I finally decided on the one named after me... Curmudgeon. I've posted to my blog.
ReplyDeleteOh the Sherbert Merino, LOVE LOVE LOVE those colors! Second is the scrap roving, I love spinning random colors.

ReplyDeleteThe falkland batt in storm, or the merino top in pixy dust... these are gorgeous!

Love the color combination in the "Wine Bowl" roving. The SCRAPS grab bag of fiber is tempting as well!
ReplyDeleteI like Spring Bloom colorway.
ReplyDeleteiluvchrisnlevib@aol.com
oh my lord - there is some sweet stuff there... if my pockets were able I'd try to get some of that "third chance" roving... and about 15 others!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the scraps and the Blaar colorway. So much color! :)
ReplyDeleteI usually tend to stray toward the greens and purples but BlackForest Cake intrigues me. I would love to see how this beautifully dyed merino top would spin up.
ReplyDeleteOh this one for sure. But they are all amazing looking, I want to spin them all :) 4.0 oz 56s Falkland wool top aka roving for spinning or felting - Wine Bowl
ReplyDeleteI love her sense of color. I don't think there is an item in the shop that wouldn't easily find itself spun and knit up in short order.
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy, but I love the scraps! I can picture that spun up and plied into a crazy skein, or, sup up and plied, then knit with a dark commercial yarn into a mitered square.
ReplyDeleteBeautimus!
Ronda
I can't believe how beautiful this 56s Falkland wool batt for spinning or felting - Coi is, I'd love to see it spun up!
ReplyDeleteBecause of this blog entry I bought one of the scraps bags - that was two days ago. It came today and I've been playing with it. What great spinning I've had! It's so easy to spin - I've only been doing it for a few days, and it's coming out wonderfully even and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHow do you choose from all those luscious braids and batts. The colors are scrumptious in their intensity. I love the way the colors are so carefully layered for such a sublime effect. These fibers just yell "Spin Me!"
ReplyDeleteThat Spring Blooms is utterly breathtaking! As is Earth Day.
