I am a proud owner of some Nightfall sock yarn by Fibro Fibers (in Lime Green in case you were wondering). This stuff is to be coveted. I am hoarding it, waiting, waiting for the perfect pattern to pop up for this yarn. When I find it, it's going to be wonderful seeing the color change from bright green to black!
Dye diva, Jen Hintz has developed a unique way of dyeing this yarn so that the gradation from black to color is subtle yet bold with a stippled star-like effect. It's quite amazing, which makes this yarn extra special. I'm featuring it toady, while there is still some available on her site- they have previously been hard to snag, so if you're interested in trying it out, my suggestion would be to pounce now!
We're giving away this beautiful Nightfall sock set (yes you can have matching socks!) in WINE (sold out on the website) to a lucky commenter. Just visit Fibro Fibers, find something you love, write about it in the comments section and we'll draw for a winner later in the week. We want to reward your extra facebooking, tweeting, ravelating, plurking or other social networking with extra entries in this giveaway, just let us know where you've done it!
Thank you so much, Jen for sharing your sock art with us!

ReplyDeleteThe cherry is stunning!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love just about everything from her! I'm kind of bummed right now because the Wine colorway is sold out.
ReplyDeleteNo way! This stuff is Gorgeous!!! I pick Ultramarine, no, Midnight Blue, no, Ivy, I just don't KNOW. No, its the Ultramarine, for sure.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!That Nightfall yarn is awesome!!! If I don't win I am going to get some!Yum! I particularly like Butterscotch.

ReplyDeleteWow. That looks like incredible stuff. Have you seen this project on ravelry, done in Zauberball? I love how this turned out: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/schmollfisch/in-the-pink
ReplyDeleteI love how she has sock sets, and full skeins. I think it'd really pop in a full skein pattern though. Maybe Haruni? Anyway, I'd be hard pressed to choose a color if I had too - I love the key lime colorway, the olive, the magenta, the ivy, the mauve. Really, I'm just a sucker for color, and they're all there. The deep teal would be perfect for a friend of mine.

ReplyDeleteThis is the first I have ever seen this yarn, but I am pretty sure I have found a new obsession for me. How could I have missed this for sooo long. Soon as next pay day comes around I am snagging a couple of skeins! : )
ReplyDeleteThese Nightfall yarns are so cool!! I can already see the scarf or shawl I wanna make with one.
ReplyDeleteThe Violet and Ultramarine are my favorites. Lately I've been craving colors that 'pop'! The gradual 'black' adds a wonderful effect.
ReplyDeleteCool my word verification is 'forkyzy'...sounds like an actual word! Or, some strange cuss word.
Stunning!! I love yarns with long color changes, I think that's why I like handspun so much hehehe
ReplyDeleteIt was really hard to pick a favorite color, but I think the Teal would make an absolutely gorgeous shawl! I wish I could figure out how you dye it, it makes my brain hurt thinking about it lol
and I love that part of the money goes to a good cause, one of my friends has fibro too!
Among the Nightfall yarns, I especially like the transitions to black from ivy, olive and midnight blue. Or wine, or deep teal. All the darker colors, really. I could also close my eyes and randomly pick a glimmerino skein, not worrying for a second that I'd be unhappy about the choice.
ReplyDeleteLove that it's for a good cause, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI got a giggle out of Can't Miss it Green and of course my eyes went right to the hot pink nightfall.
I want the Midnight Blue Sock Set, but it's all gone! Love 'em all!

Wow! I wonder how this is dyed. It is so fascinating. I like all the colors, especially the ones that are sold out. My usual dilemma. I went to her etsy site too, and I like her roving. It is not this gradated dyed stuff, but I like the two colors she had.
