The Critter Ranch Llamas in Pajamas Giveaway!

This will be a different post here on the blog than I normally do. If you have followed this blog for long, you know that we have been fans of The Critter Ranch and her work for years. I had this blogpost scheduled to publish tomorrow, but I just received some very sad news.  Last night our friend Sue of The Critter Ranch lost her 2 year old Great Grandson to a horrible tragedy.

Rather than having you choose something to talk about from her lovely shop, instead I would like to Sue (and Diana of Fiber Fancy- the boy's auntie) to know that there are fiber artists from all over that care. If you would post a small condolence at in the comments section, perhaps when time has allowed some healing to occur, Sue and Diana will be able to read your comments and know our feelings of sympathy towards them. A randomly chosen commenter will receive these adorable Llamas in Pajamas created by Sue of The Critter Ranch for our December box.

Austin was a victim of a very horrible tragedy, and the family is quite unprepared for any funeral expenses. An email to forward paypal donations has been set up by the family: austinjsmith2013 at gmail dot com

Thank you in advance for your kind thoughts for our friends.

  1. I am so sorry for your loss of such a bright shining star in your life. Please try to remember the happy times you had with Austin. Austin was taken from your family much too soon. I know in my heart such a sweet little boy is now playing at the feet of G'd in heaven.

  3. I am so very sorry for your loss, Sue and Diana.

Sometimes all we can do is try to remember happy times with those we've loved and lost, and hug each other a little tighter as we grieve.

Please accept my sincere condolences. Hugs to you both.

  4. Oh dear! I don't think there is any way to say I know how Sue is feeling, but I hope she knows that she is well-loved.

  5. Yesterday, an online friend of mine died after a sudden and aggressive cancer diagnosis. She left behind her husband and two very young children. I pray that your beautiful Austin meets Barb, and that they share the love and sparkle that we on Earth were robbed of, and that together, they can radiate comfort to the hurting family left behind. Austin is forever peaceful, forever happy. But, those who loved him will never be the same. Deep condolences and love to all the bereaved.

  11. We are so very sorry for your loss. We lost our daughter 8 years ago to a tragic accident. There are just no words for something like this. Only tears. And comfort from God and friends. You WILL survive this and learn to live again! In the beginning, though, it is one breath at a time. We've sent a donation to help with costs, but if you ever feel the need to talk (or scream or rant or cry), do not hesitate to contact me. I am sticks2string on Ravelry. I am praying for you all.

  23. This makes me very sad. I always find it [eventually] comforting to know that everything happens for a reason. While we might not be able to see what the reasoning behind such a tragedy is right now, it is still part of the plan. You will see him again some day. He is safe now.

  25. It's impossible for me to express how my heart breaks for this little one and the family he has left behind to grieve. There is nothing more devastating than the loss of a child, and I wish I could hug each and everyone in the family during this time of loss.

  44. One of the most painful losses is the loss of an innocent. May your heart heal over time and the wonderful memories of Austin fill the hole his departure left. It's small comfort, but he is at peace now, it's those left behind who feel the loss so deeply.
Sending good energy and prayers your way along with sincerest condolences for your loss.

  48. The death of a child strikes our very core, so much potential, so much happiness, so much life becomes unrecoverable. While most people do not share your experience, they can empathize with your loss. I wish that you didn't have to experience these events; my heart and thoughts go out to you. May your memories of him bring you joy and your grieving process be aided by family and friends. May you find peace and clarity in these hard times.
