Also, because you asked... Leicester is pronounced like the name Lester. It's from the same region as the word Worcester, similarly pronounced Worster. (Just drop the nasty little "ce" in the middle on both.) A lot of syllables have just been lost since Old and Middle English, both of which have their origins in German, the original language of the Brothers Grimm tales. Their character's names Jorinde and Joringe and pronounced Yo-rind-eh and Yo-ring-eh.
There's your local pedant's two cents for the day. :)
