Rule Out Fiber Addiction NOS giveaway!

We're due for a winter storm in the next 24 hours or so and I needed to look at some of this bright and cheerful fiber from Rule Out Fiber Addiction, NOS!

Remember, Emily is a mild mannered therapist by day, and she kindly explained to me that "NOS" means no other symptoms. So, Emily, does that mean you're only a fiber addict and you don't stray into other craft arenas? Hmmmm.

Regardless, I love how cheerful Emily's shop is! Just what I needed to liven up this winter-gray morning!

We're giving away this beautiful golden yellow cormo-corridale cross pin drafted (pencil roving) ketttle-dyed fiber today! Perfect for you new spinners! Visit Rule Out Fiber Addiction, NOS and find something you like. Write about it in the comments section below, and we'll be drawing for a winner later on in the week. Make sure you leave a way for us to find you- and why not twitter and facebook about this giveaway while you're at it? We'll count that as extra entries too!

Thanks Emily for cheering me up today!

Katherine Vaughan Designs Pack Giveaway

I am especially proud of several of our Phatties for stepping up and offering to donate small (sometimes large!) portions of their profits for Haiti Relief. It is just another illustration of how this amazing band of fiber artists come together in synchronicity to achieve greatness.

Katherine Vaughan was one of the first designers I noticed to offer a portion of her proceeds to help for Haiti. Having a personal ties to the country, she put advocacy in action immediately upon hearing the news of the earthquake.

Now through January 31st, $2 for every pattern purchase from Katherine Vaughan will be donated to a Haitian Relief effort. I'm off to purchase her Happy Wrap- I'd been eyeballing it for a while!

As a special giveaway, we are offering a 5 pack of printed designs for you! Just visit Katherine Vaughan's pattern shop on Ravelry , or her Etsy shop and let us know which are your favorites. We'll be drawing for a winner later in the week- and yes your pattern purchases count towards the superbox giveaway as well! We'll be counting your twitter and facebook updates as extra entries, so let everyone know about Katherine Vaughan Designs!

Thanks for fighting the good fight, KT!

Stephanie, from the best little wool shop in Texas (WCMercantile) created beautiful kettle dyed silk noil samples for the January box. Her inspiration was one of humanity's earliest novel's The Tale of Genji.

Stephanie has offered to custom-dye a couple of oz of this silk noil for a lucky commenter here on the blog. Just visit WCMercantile, find something you love, and write about it in the comments section below. The Twice Sheared Sheep

I love things that have dual purposes. I also love beautiful things. Perhaps that is why I love Twice Sheared Sheep's new shawl pins! Her heavy wire pins double as stitch marker holders (and who wouldn't want to display her infinity stitch markers?).

Dawn has been busy creating all sorts of wire shapes (check out the shawn the sheep ones!) for her pins. They might just be the perfect touch to top off your shawl! Speaking of shawls... some of you may have noticed I am on a huge shawl kick lately. I just can't stop knitting them! Shawls could just be the most perfect accessory ever invented. Feminine, functional, looks good on every body type, and I doubt anyone would mistake your knitted or crocheted shawl for some mass-produced big-box garment. My personal goal for the Ravelympics is to spin 8 oz of fiber and then knit that yarn into a shawl- if you're looking for a group to join, check out the Team Phat! Whew, I think I have convinced myself I am in desperate need for one of Dawn's shawl pins.

We're giving away this shiny copper shawl pin and stitch markers to a lucky commenter. Just visit Twice Sheared Sheep, find something you love, and write about it in the comments section below. We'll be drawing for a winner this weekend, so be sure and twitter, facebook, plurk or blog about your favorites!

Thank you Dawn, for creating this lovlies for us to enjoy!

The Critter Ranch Llamas in Pajamas!

I still just can't get over the cuteness of January's Critter Ranch samples!! Sue must be an amazingly creative person to think of this!

If you didn't see the sneak peek video, the llama roving samples were dressed in flannel pajamas! Sue based her samples on the book Llamas in Pajamas and I think she did a fantastic job! There are still a couple left in her shop, go snag one!

Sue has generously offered up a full-sized Llama in a Pajama and matching book for a giveaway! Please visit The Critter Ranch, find something you love, and write about it in the comments section below! We'll be giving this away this weekend, so be sure and twitter and facebook for extra entries!

The Love Blanket

Warning: I'm about to get real sappy and sentimental!

Some of you may know, in November, I lost my grandmother. The phatties took it upon themselves to create what I now call "The Love Blanket". This Love Blanket is comprised of many lovingly created blocks sewn together by Dani.

It was an amazing experience, opening the Love Blanket box. I spent a great deal of time pouring over all the different squares and on a quiet and cold afternoon alone, I opened and read all of the beautiful letters and notes of condolences. This blanket is a metaphor for so many things. The collective good wishes of the most wonderful fiber friends in the world, the idea of retaining your own individuality while contributing to the greater good, the warmth of a hug being just an arm's length away.

As Phat Fiber turns 1 this month, I can't help but get misty-eyed thinking about our group of amazing and talented fiber artists and the friendships that have been forged in the past year. This is truly the part of Phat Fiber that makes it shine from the inside out.
