Calizona Designs Giveaway!

Our lovely Classic is hard at work preparing for several upcoming art and craft shows! Her shop is not at full stock at the moment, so we're going to be doing something a little different with this blog post (stay tuned!)

Classic can do anything. I'm sure of it! We've all seen her gorgeous hand dyed fiber, yarn, hand painted knitting needles, beaded stitch markers and hand blended teas in the box! She's a crafty maven who can create anything from lip gloss to art yarn (and she does!)

Please take a look at Calizona Designs, browse through her sold items and what is currently listed and come up with a new product suggestion! Got a new colorway idea? Let us know!

As a reward for your input, we're giving away this gorgeous skein of merino sock yarn called "Fallen Leaves". It's even prettier in person, and captures the time of year perfectly!

Classic, Phat Fiber loves you! We can't wait to see the new revamped shop!

I think that since she can work leather, she should make holders (holsters?) for those fabulous handmade knitting needles to properly store, protect, and display them!

I would love to see a yarn that reminded me of a saddle blanket. Maybe some reds, a little black and of course, some white.

Calizona Designs seems big on family I would love to see a yarn/fiber of how her family lives and works together.

The yarns are wonderful.

what about a colorway called 'home on the range'? lots of earth tones, of course.

I adore her black and hot pink colorway. I would suggest a brown, pink and red colorway, which is one my favorites.

I love the black and pink sock yarn. I'd like to see a similar yarn in chocolate brown and baby blue. I'd so buy that and make socks out of it!

Aw, too bad I missed out on the Amethyst and the Diamond and Guns! I love those color combos.

Keeping with the cowgirl theme, it would be a lot of fun to create a gift pack of a skein of your yarn, a sample of your tea to sip while knitting, and a cowgirl-inspired knitting pattern, such as boot socks.

what gorgeous colorways! i have to say i am partial to the hawaiian knitting needles though! miss those sunsets!

Since the colors really seem to pop I suggest a colorway called citrine and sapphire in orange and perhaps blue?

I'm going to go against the grain with a 'non-fiber' idea! I like the body scrub and butter so I would do a 'Cowgirl Scrub-a-dub' set with those in a rustic basket with exselsior filling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wood_wool) filling, maybe 3 tea bags (one to sip plus one for each eye!), CUTE!!!!

What about "bath tea?" These are sachets with herbs that go in the bath - great for weary cowgirls (I used to make them with herbs from my garden). It's an interesting mid-point between the body butter (love) and the drinking tea (also love). The sock yarn colors are great - my fave was the lilac, but I'm partial to socks that don't have such radical color changes as to obscure a pattern...

That dark black with a bright teal for a sock yarn would be neat. Also, love the pinup cowgirl stuff...more of that I'd say! Though, I do love the Amethyst colorway, very pretty.

I'd love to see some western sunset colorways... Like when the cowboy is riding into the sun at the end of a movie? Something like that would be gorgeous!

I love the bold & vibrant colors of her yarns (especially the black & pink colorway). I think these types of colors (bold & highly contrasting) would make a nice line of spinning fiber!

Fitting with some of the colorway themes she's sold before, I think a dreamsicle orange color blended with a deep red... I'm no good at naming colorways, but perhaps something like "Indian summer"?

Jen said...

Well, since there's a cowboy theme going on and cowboys like to play poker, how about a black/red/white colorway named Dead Man's Hand? Or Full House? Or something card-related like that. Also, a brown/beige/gray called Whiskey and Dust?

I LOVE the bright and saturated colors that are being produced. Maybe some with several of those saturations together? What can I say? I'm a color freak!

Well first I'm a yarnie. Also, most of what was sold involved shades of purple, my favorite, as you'll see from my login. So I suggest that since some of us where purple all year long, and it IS the hottest color this year, do lots more of that, although perhaps deeper (rather than pastely) for the winter.

OOOH!!! My dad totally retired from 30 years of teaching middle school to be a cowboy in Idaho. He is now searching for the perfect yarn for me to make him his dream winter hat. I think she should make some Cowboy Yarns. Thick, natural, chunky, earthy. Stuff for manly dads!

Oops, forgot: Twittered about it @millarca!

I love the various purple colorways you carried.

I'll blog about this and be back

Wow! I think I may have to shop and shop and shop. The purple colorways are BEautiful and I iknow the perfect person for those Hawaiian knitting needles. I would love a colorway that reflect the cowgirl (maybe pink/brown) or a theme with needles and yarn (Hawaiian neddles and a gorgeus sunset colorway.) Or even a set of needles with a saddle, a boot, or a horseshoe and some intense "girlie" colors - amethyst or pink with maybe a lipgloss.A whole group for the holidays. Regardless - just wanted to say gorgeus!!!

How about needles with cowgirl boots on them? Way cool!

Colors are fab, yarns are delicious, but nothing knubby and flubby and artsy...how about some wild and textured art yarns in the colorways you do so well?

Cowboy hat needles? I see someone else suggested boots which was my original idea.

Kristen said...

I see alot of fuschia, teal and purple in the colorways so I'd suggest more primary and secondary colors. I particularly love greens. And some neutrals would be great as well.

Rachel O said...

I love your purple colorways. How about something more intense for the fall/winter?

I am a very lucky owner of several of Calizona pieces. She does an absolutely beautiful job with her jewelry. I'd love to see her create some stitch markers with that same gorgeous flare.

I love the needles - so cute. Maybe make some with horses heads?

Sylvia said...

Your samples look like they have handspun yarn. How about some lovely handspun in shades of blues and purples which seem to be your forte?

Carla said...

How about some with my favorite color combo - purple and turquoise.

Egater said...

I would like ping and green together.
And maybe some knitting needles protect idems

I like the yarns, and I'd like to see one kind of like the Amethyst Sock Yarn but in brown.

I'm a cowboy (well, I work in an office but I know some cowboy songs)

I love the amethyst yarn - stick with a winner is my motto.

the Hawaiian sunset knitting needles are pretty cool!

Great items. My faves are your yarns -love the saturated colors.
This time of year I'm all about Autum colors: burnt orange, rich/deep burgundy, and a little brown thrown in.
Best of luck.

What about a belts that combine knit yarn and leater.

She has such pretty things in her shop! Autumn colored rovings would be very pretty. I love fall colors, so I think it would be fun to spin roving in those colors.

Robin said...

I think with all the cowgirl stuff there should be yarn that represents the horses- like a pinto mix or Roan

I love anything with mice on it! so having needles with that theme would be great.

How about something called Desert Sunset or Prairie sunset. I have seen picks of the sunsets out west and some have the most vibrant colors, also maybe some things using Turquoise and silver.

Sara said...

I have to agree I think some sunset yarns - with all the different colors of the beautiful desert sunsets. I think making the yarn in lace weight would be awesome!!!
