WC Mercantile Art Nouveau Fiber Giveaway!
You may have noticed that the Shearlock and Sonata's choice award goes to WCMercantile this month!! I thought Stephanie and Katie's Art Nouveau interpretation was spot on! The colors just capture the essence of their inspiration pic and all fo the different fibers that create to make the "melange" is just amazing. It has everything from silk to peacock feathers!
I know you'll want to take some time this week and really look over WCMercantile's beautiful shop. All things spinning and fiber are there to feast upon! A true "Spinner's Delight" so I can't wait to see what adventures Shearlock and Sonata have there!
We're giving away this beautiful Melange of fiber! Just visit WCMercantile today, find something you love, and write about it in the comments section below. We'll count those facebook/twitter/plurk updates as extra entries so don't forget to do that!

Funhouse Fibers Art Batt Giveaway!

This picture does NOT do this batt justice. "Sherwood Forest" from Funhouse Fibers is a highly textural blend of locks, and sparkles and woolies and it's just mouth watering- especially for a green freak like me!
This month, our fiber sleuths Shearlock the Sheep and Sonata the Alpaca have visited sunny California and are inspecting Funhouse Fibers to see exactly how much FUN Miki puts into her fibers. Inquiring minds want to know what the fun quota *really* is!
I made a couple of quick purchases before posting this giveaway- I always feel bad about doing that, but hey, I need fiber too. *wink* We're giving away this wonderful Sherwood Forest art batt today (how I wish I could keep it!). Just visit Funhouse Fibers today, find something you love, and write about it in the comments section below. We're giving away fibery stuff every day as part of our bonanza of giveaways- check back often!

Shearlock's Choice for April- Natchwoolie Giveaway!

Last month, while Shearlock was rubbing elbows with the fiber elite at Maryland Sheep and Wool, I sent my felted fiber fairy to visit Brenda at Natchwoolie. She sent in the most amazing baby camel and tussah silk samples! To touch these, must be touching a piece of fiber heaven!
I ran out and bought some immediately and it is still here, unspun, and I am still amazed at the beauty of it.
When I visit Natchwoolie's shop, I feel like I'm coming home. I do love all the sparkle and glitz and wild colors that can be found elsewhere, but sometimes wrapping yourself in natural fibers is just what the Doctor ordered. Like today, I'm staring out at a rainy gloomy spring day and I'm thinking about the soothing softness of this baby camel sitting in my stash.
We're pleased to be hosting a giveaway with 2 winners!! Both winners will receive a 2 oz big version of this delectable baby camel and tussah silk blend in 2 oz each. All you need to do, is visit Natchwoolie, find something you love, and write about it in the comments section below. We'll draw for a winner later in the week, so be sure and get extra entries by using facebook, ravelry, your own blog, twitter etc and let everyone else know about the yumminess that is Natchwoolie!

Dawning Dreams Spinner's Lap Cloth Giveaway!

January's Shearlock's choice award went to Dawning Dreams! By the end of this post, I think you'll realize why!
Dawn is a woman of many talents. Her February samples are patterns. A 'dark and lavender' leaf inspired by a painting. An ingenious little pattern you can use your Phat Fiber samples to create! These patterns were in a recent box of wonders I received earlier in the week.
Also in the box, (besides Shearlock) was my first installment of Dawn's fiber jewelery club. I love love this pin! Beautiful wire work, beautiful beads, and look at the packaging! The pin was cradled in hand-dyed spinnable cotton roving! I can't wait to see what my next shipment will be!
Next, was my Gorgeously Gothic SAL batts!! Oh, I'm breathless just talking about them... so soft, so sparkly and beautiful!
And now, something for one of you lucky commenters- a hand sewn Spinner's lap cloth! I really think this a wonderful idea! Basically, you lay the cloth in your lap while spinning, and it a) catches flyaway fuzz on the cloth and not your pants b) has either light or dark sides you can change to help you see your drafting zone easier c) has pockets to hold things like, add-ins, scissors, spindles, or whatever else you might need within easy reach. One of the aspects I love about them, is the fabric. Dawn didn't skimp on using high quality and beautiful quilting cottons!
We're giving away this spinner's lap cloth to a lucky commmenter- Just visit Dawning Dreams, find something you like, and write about it in the comments section below. We'll be drawing for a winner on Monday, so be sure and use your social networking powers to let everyone know about Dawning Dreams. We'll count your extra twittering, facebooking, ravelating etc as extra entries- just let us know where you did it!
Dawn, thank you for my amazing package! It made my week!

Shearlock's Choice Award- Light Brown Hare

Our Shearlock is said to be en route back home from Light Brown Hare Headquarters. I do hope he doesn't get caught in a blizzard!
Shearlock had an absolute amazing time this past month, and as you can see from the photos he was incredibly well taken care of- I hope he hasn't gained too much weight or we'll have to put him on that nasty alfalfa sprout diet again.
After discovering the Light Brown Hare crew also enjoys Battlestar Gallactica, Shearlock phoned home to say he wanted to stay a little longer. The food, the wine, the all day dyeing and the cutting up with Dale (Shearlock finally got to use all of his BSG jokes/quotes and references!)- it has been heaven for him.
Dale has already listed some full sized yarn that will be featured in our "Aurora Borealis and Beyond" December box. I am certainly drooling over the 600 yd Nebula yarn. *Sigh* I love it when I can buy a special skein of fingering weight in enough yardage to knit a small shawl. Nebula, you may be mine yet :)
Thank you so much Dale, for taking such good care of Shearlock and for letting us all in on your adventures in dyeing and knitting. We've had great fun peeking in on your artwork!

Shearlock's Choice Award- Fiber Fancy! And Giveaway!

Out of the September box, Shearlock chose to go investigate Diana, of Fiber Fancy. Her samples were beautiful, generous, soft, and had a neat legend attatched, which was befitting out theme.
Rather than narrate Shearlock's trip to NY, Diana took several pictures and has shared them with us. First was Shearlock at a fiber festival where he helped in both the Fiber Fancy and The Critter Ranch booths. Next, Shearlock was found investigating Diana's 30 lb fiber shipment!
After he watched over Diana's spinning, he took a little time for some 'r & r' and went sightseeing and of course, had to inspect the Llamas- who were a little standoffish, probably because they aren't used to Shearlock's "alternative" woolstyle.
Shearlock would like to thank Diana of Fiber Fancy, for being such a gracious host! He's back home now gearing up for another trip!
We're giving away a beautiful 2 oz Fiber Fancy "Maid of the Mist" batt to a lucky commenter! Just visit Fiber Fancy, find something you like, and write about it in the comments section below. We're drawing for a winner on Friday, so be sure and take time to visit!
Remember, we will be counting your extra social networking as additional entries- just let us know you did it!
