Taos Sunflower Too and *Giveaway*

I am squealing inside!
Martie, of Taos Sunflower Too has sent in the cutest bags of luxe locks you ever did see. I know you could spin with these silken, colorful and curly locks but wouldn't they make wonderful doll hair or special trimmings? So lustrous and soft, the colors almost emit their own light- they are dyed to perfection.
I absolutely adore Martie's shop! She really gives me the impression this is one of those shops you would stumble upon on vacation, tucked away from the main road- a shop the locals buy from because the quality is outstanding and the customer service being personal, truthful, and thoughtful.
I have had this fantasy about going to Taos since 2002, after seeing a Robert Miribal concert. He spoke about Taos in such a tender way, it made me want to live there. Since then, I've had eerie coincidences associated with this place called Taos, New Mexico. In my head, I've built up how great it must be that for a while, I decided I would never go, because I would probably just be let down.
Then, I happen upon Martie and Montie's shop, and blog. Martie should be getting paid by the New Mexico tourism beaureau. The photos, the quiet living, the gorgeous scenery all confirm my suspicions that Taos, or Arroyo Seco should, at least, be visited and enjoyed.
Martie's first Taos Sunflower Yarns shop came into fruition because of a desire to leave a corporate world and settle into a more truthful way of life. The shop grew to be extremely popular, having a downtown storefront for a while. Martie has since closed the shop and Taos Sunflower Too is a Renaissance, a rebirth, of a secret dream I think we all have. To live a more simple, meaningful life. Sometimes, the best way to get there is to start afresh and new, having peeled away excess. I can certainly relate.
I am so very pleased with the discovery of this new shop Taos Sunflower Too- I hope all of you who might have Christmas money burning little holes in your pockets, might consider making a few purchases from this delightful fiber paradise. Thank you so much, Martie for your gorgeous samples and for your inspiring blog! Please, Please, participate in future boxes!
For a lucky commenter, you will receive a gorgeous bit (2 oz) of hand dyed Blue-Faced Leicester in Taos Sunflower's "American Beauty" Colorway!!!!! I swear, when I first looked at the shop I immediately picked the same roving out as a potential purchase! I can't even tell you how gorgeous this is. If it was edible, I would eat it. Please visit Taos Sunflower Too, find something you love and write about it below. I'll draw a name on New Year's Day so be sure to leave an identifying mark. Good Luck!

Oh, so gorgeous! I, too, dream of Taos, but being a New Englander I don't think I'd fit in:) But dream I can! The Harriet Teeswater locks are just the yummiest!

The Crocus Beauteous Batt sounds like a real treat! I'm sure it would be lovely to spin.

Cruising Taos Sunflower Too etsy shop almost got me in trouble. I'm supposed to be on bedrest--doctor's orders. We spinsters/weavers/knitters/and all-round fiber nuts are really "die hard" though aren't we? I looked at the blog. Man is that a gorgeous place! Your webblog is really very nice. Thanks for the tastes of New Mexico life. Even on a sick bed one can dream of traveling there more clearly when looking at that site. I checked out the ETSY shop for Taos Sunflower Too and when I happened upon the Tangee selection I was so amused by the references to the lipstick. I love World War II trivia, and this one really made my day. So are you getting the feeling I am really desperately needing human contact here in my convalescence? Seriously the "kid mohair" and "hand dyed" taglines got me longing to check out more of the lovely colors. Now I am anxious to see in real living color "Jennifer" after reading the description. How can you part with these fibers? I'd pile them up and roll around in them. Uh-oh, busted, my hubby just walked in and ordered me back to bed. I just wish he'd bring me the laptop so I could dream some more about Taos.

Merry Gold II is fantastic! I absolutely love that colorway. Bird of Paradise is also wonderful. Those are very pretty yarns. I like the mix of fleeces, roving, batts, locks and handspun yarn. There's something for everyone!

I meant to post earlier but my computer has been running sssooooo slooooooow the past few days. Much better today though.

I actually laughed out loud reading the description for Harriet in Martie's store. The beautiful colour enticed me to click on it and I wasn't quite expecting such an entertaining text :)

Gosh, the items in the store look simply amazing. I say 'look' because the photographs are great, and I wish desperately that I could reach through my computer screen to touch them. My knowledge about any fiber other than alpaca and angora rabbit is non-existent, but THIS fiber looks so glossy, shiny, so soft.

*sigh*

My very very favourite though is the Andromeda roving. I like rovings, it means I don't have to clean painstakingly nor flap my carders around, I can just pull out my wheel, sit down, and spin :)

I'm not much of a handspun purchaser(well, for handspun I didn't spin) but I love the colors in Lorie. So pretty!

I actually visited Taos and the shop two summers ago while on a trip to New Mexico. Could have spent several hours in the shop. Absolutely lovely stuff! So glad to see the Etsy shop. The item that caught my eye in the shop is "Andromeda" roving. What a gorgeous blend of colors!

Oh, her shop is fabulous. It is very much a place that you would stumble across off the beaten path. I went this past June when I was visiting New Mexico and have not found another place quite like it! Your roving is beautiful!
