We're gearing up for another really wonderful box here at Phat Fiber! With the strange weather we've been having it's anybody's guess whether you'll want to wear a snowsuit or t-shirt when stepping outside. Sorta makes you dizzy just thinking about it!
I thought it might be fun to do a spinning themed-giveaway week. I know there are a lot of you on the fence about whether or not to try it and I just want to give you extra incentive to learn to spin your own yarn. One of the main reasons I take pride in a finished knitted or crochet project is the idea that I've made something myself. When that project is made from yarn I've spun, the satisfaction must be near complete as it is kind of like baking a cake from scratch rather than using a mix (I use still use mixes a lot though! hee hee).
Our Ravelry group is full of talented spinners and non-spinners alike- we all love to encourage each others efforts especially in the area of spinning (it really is loads of fun!). It's really a fun group and I'm glad to be a part of it.
Some news about the box- it will be going on sale next week- though not on the 15th. The various holidays this week has pushed our schedule off slightly. You will all be getting your notices early next week- so look for them in your email box! If you have not yet signed up to be notified, you can do so here: http://www.phatfiber.com/notifyme.htm

i know what you mean about the pride factor. FOlks who are not crafty i think are missing out!
I'm working on a sweater made from fibre that I spun, carded, dyed and washed by myself - and I even brought home from the farmer in Ireland! Even if it doesn't fit in the end I will be very proud of it.
Ya know, if it wasn't for the box, I prolly would have NEVER tried spinning, now its just addicting! (I really need to put that yarn to good use!) I <3 Phat Fiber. I'm so excited to see what's coming up next in the box!
Tuesday I tried my hand at the drop spindle it was fun:)(((Hugs))) Darcy
OOOOOO Darcy, we're on the same wave length. I was so relieved when I was told I could undo what I did on my spindle, carefully brush it out & change the thickness of what I was spinning.Being a part of Phat Fiber is like being in a sisterhood where everyone does their best, & is eager to help others to try new things. It gives encouragement & advice whenever it's needed. It so encourages me, & I'm sure others, to jump in & do things in the fiber world that I'd have run from in the past. Here everyone is positive, & I think that has a.lot to do with the leadership of our group as well as all the helpful people who are a part of this group. Darcy-I LOVE the yarns you've dyed for Phat Fiber & now you've got me thinking of a lace project!! As for the April box-I'm happy with any date that's a day I'm not in the hospital...I can hear me already as I cling to my laptop;"No! Don't knock me out until i get the April box!" I'm sure I'll wake up in the psych ward hee hee. Happy Holidays to all & thanks to Jessie for all you do!
