North Star Alpacas and *Giveaway*

It was because of North Star Alpaca's debut in the March box, that I became aware of a new word. Snorgle. The first samples Maple sent were a chocolate colored merino and alpaca roving in a generous portion size. Three elements combined to create a "perfect storm" when it came to those samples. First, the color was amazing- it was as if chocolate grew on alpacas- a rich milk chocolate I would certainly be able to incorporate into my wardrobe or anyone else's as I think chocolate is one of those colors that just looks great on everyone. Secondly, the softness of this fiber was near indescribable. Buttery, rich, smooth- am I making you hungry? Finally, Maple takes such care of her fiber that she stores them with French Lavender sachets and it adds the sweetest natural fragrance to her packages it is like opening a package of bliss.
This trinity of factors to combine to create much snorgling on behalf of all of us fiber feinds who have had the priviledge of experiencing North Star Alpaca fiber.
Maple has sent in some delicious mill-spun yarn from one of her 'paca babies, Tribute. I must admit, I have a bit of an alpaca crush on him. He's so proud in all of his photos and so fluffy, I wish Maple and her herd lived next door so I could go give him some special treats like an apple slice (do alpacas even eat apples?). I also think Maple is one of the most humorous and kind hearted people I've come across recently. She sent along a special skein of Tribute's yarn for me! She's really sweet! If you had any doubts before- just read her shop profile section here.
Maple would like to give away 4 oz of fiber to a lucky commentor here on the blog. We will be drawing for the dizzy week giveaways next Thursday. All you have to do to win the 4 oz of North Star Alpaca fiber of your choice, is visit Maple's Shop- find something you like, and post about it below. Remember, I always count your extra efforts (twitter, plurk, facebook and ravelry posts) as extra entries in the drawing. Just let me know you did it! Please make it easy on me too and leave a way for me to contact you should you win.
Thank you Maple, for being such a wonderful contributor to the box. We look forward to sampling more from your beautiful herd!

I like the gray alpaca and babydoll sheep roving. I really like the idea of a babydoll sheep. I'm picturing something akin to miniature pony ratio. Although, I'm sure that's not what they are.

I like all of her roving and I want to try the brown alpaca fleece. Maple is a very nice person.

I like the plain white or grey roving because I think it would be so much fun to play with dyeing it!!

and the black would be a lot of fun to play with a brightly colored handspun!

I love just about everything in her shop. I've already purchased more of the Sonata roving from the March box, plus some pure chocolate brown alpaca from Mira and Sagittarius and a lighter fawn raw fiber from Patience. It smells delicious and spins like a dream. I really love how all of the fiber is listed by the animal it came from.

I have been stalking Francisca's fleece ever since I first visited her shop. Of course I wanted to know why it is cheaper than the others - turns out its because of the variation in it. Yay! I LOVE how the variations look and I can't wait to order some - it will be so interesting to see how it turns out.

I also love her ponytail hats! So cute - and a great idea - this compliment of course coming from someone with long thick crazy curly hair that does not fit into any hat. :)

And her babydoll sheep yarn is so pretty...but the really interesting thing about it is that she dyed it ON THE SPINDLE - really I had no idea you could do that. Amazing.
