WC Mercantile and *Giveaway*

I apologize about not posting yesterday! I was so foggy headed I ended up going to be at 8:30 and still hit snooze on my alarm clock until 8 this morning!
I'm making it up to you all, by hosting a giveaway from WC Mercantile!
Stephanie, the full time shop owner, sent me some of her yearling farm fresh mohair roving to try. I must say, this stuff is so lofty! It has a healthy sheen to it, which can only mean it came from happy and healthy goats!
Stephanie recently hosted a Spin-In at her store this past weekend! Did any of you go? It sounds like it was really fun!
Here is an excerpt from a lovely and friendly letter Stephanie wrote to me regarding WC Mercantile:
"It is a natural fiber spinning and knitting shop that is owned by a mother-daughter team. We carry spinning wheels, wool and other fibers for spinning and all sorts of natural yarns including some of our own handspun and hand dyed yarns. I work the store full time and take care of my baby girl, Ellie. My mom owns and lives on Flying Wright Farms where we raise Angora goats. The herd was 30 head but we just had a population explosion to42; it has to do with the birds and the bees!
It is our goal to share fiber happiness all over the world. We take Mohair from our kid and yearling goats (only) and with the help of some wonderful micro mills it turns into a soft and lofty roving. We dye it and spin it, and love it!! This is what my sample is this month, kettle dyed yearling mohair."
For those of you who get a taste of their farm fresh roving in their boxes this month, you'll understand when I say you can just tell it is awesome stuff. I started spinning my gift from Stephanie last night and the resulting yarn is already quite spongy, soft and lofty!
We're giving away 2 oz of this luxury fiber for you to spin! Visit WCMercantile and find something you like in the shop. Write about it below and we'll draw for a name on Friday! Remember that I count your extra social networking online as extra marks for you- just let me know you did it.
Thank you so much Stephanie, for your contribution to Phat Fiber. Please keep contributing to the sampler!

I'm completely in love with this Dark Garnet Merino Top. Those little hints of yellow and red and light blue in among the indigo is just beautiful! Definitely adding them to my faves, thanks!

Oh my goodness! I love this shop and it is even close enough for me to take a little weekend road trip to visit! Favorite thing... well, I just can't nail it down! I do love the Ashford Kiwi and Ashford Joy (and hopefully will be purchasing one with my tax refund). But, I think the idea of dying my own fiber is so intriguing to me that the "Dye Your Own Silk Cap Kit" has to be my favorite item!

Thank you for featuring them on your blog!

I liked everything in their store. If I had to choose, my current favorite would be the 4 oz. Organic Cotton Sliver - Variety Sampler .
I don't know how to spin yet, but I would love to learn how to spin the cotton.

a few weeks ago, I bought some handdyed roving from WC Mercantile. It is a bright coral/red mix and wonderful to spin. Also the price was very reasonable. I also love the fact that they have free shipping!

I lust after the merino and tencel undyed yarn - I could try dying it myself!! I buy yarn from Stephanie.

I had to completely skip the spinning wheel section because that would really blow my fiber budge - but the Blue Belle Corriedale fiber just tugs at my heart. I am going through a giant blue phase right - so I blogged about it and the WC Mercantile at:

http://lazydaisyknits.blogspot.com/

and on Twitter at:

Thanks for the information/Tweet - I would never have found it on my own.

I seriously can't pick just one thing I adore in this shop! I'm in the market for a spinning wheel, and plan to start dying shortly so the undyed fibres and dyes definitely caught my eye.

I love, love, LOVE Ring of Fire and Sea Glass.

I've maxed out my "yarn allowance" this month but look forward to possibly getting the sample in the April box...and May's not too far off :)

Now that I have been introduced to this independent phat fiber shop I will be able to physically purchase items from them. I can't wait to see some more of your yarn. If your batts are this wonderful, your your yarn must be fabulous. Thank you Stephanie for this wonderful giveaway and introduction to your shop.

I seriously can't find anything I DON'T like. They have everything, from undyed fiber (and dyes to dye it with) to spinning wheels to spin on. ALL with free shipping! The colors of all of them are amazing. I dearly hope that I win this fiber, but even if I don't I'll be getting something from them. BEAUTIFUL!!

I could not decide between the farm fresh yearling roving in green and rust and the farm fresh yearling roving in blue, brown and peachy-beige. But then I went and bought the latter.

I posted comments on Facebook, Twitter, and Ravelry. I didn't blog b/c I haven't used my blog in a year and no-one reads it & it would be cheating.

I love all the yearling mohair! I love knitting with mohair and am looking forward to trying to spin it but I've heard that it is tougher than wool to spin nicely. I'm so hoping I get a sample in my box . . . but if not, I just might have to try a small amount to see what I can do with it!

I love the red and blue roving. Being a Jayhawk fan from Kansas there is tons I could do with it.

It's a hard decision to make there are so many wonderful items to choose from. If I had to narrow it down it would for sure have to be something from the "Farm Fresh" selection.

Thanks for bringing this shop to my attention. I'm going to be placing an order soon. Weeee....

I think all the Farm Fresh mohairs are amazing, but I love the lime green, orange and yellow one the best.

I am in love with WC Mercantile's merino tencel "Deep Sea." It is a gorgeous mix of deep turquoise with a shimmery silver hue - I can only imagine that this would spin into a stunning yarn on its own or, combined with a contrasting colorway, would become something even more mouthwatering. Lovely!
