Storm Damage-edit

Hello,
I am Jessie's sister, Jill.  She asked me to post here to let you all know about yesterday's devastating storm.  Jessie and her family are fine and no serious damage was done to their home.  There are trees down everywhere and power is out.  The utility companies are working feverishly to get everything back to normal, but there may not be power when the next shipment of boxes goes out.  Rest assured, Jessie has lots of help.  Boxes will still go on sale as planned, whether they have power or not.  Sale time notices will go out early this coming week.  The video this month may encounter a few hiccups, but they will do their best.  Be assured, Jessie and Phat Fiber are fine...just a little shaken up.  Thanks for understanding.

Sunday afternoon there was some clearing of trees and branches in front of Jessie's house.  They really had a close call. The roads in were blocked and power lines are down all around.  She wants me to tell you all that she is encouraged and emotionally uplifted by all of your thoughts, comments, and prayers.  She hopes to find somewhere today or tomorrow with internet so that she can send out sale notices.

Hi Jill - please send Jessie and Marcus and the kids our love. I am so sorry to hear they had to go through this. Here in FL we go through lots of tropical storms and hurricane scares, so I know how hard and scary it is.

love - carly

Ahhhh days without power, I know them well.

Tell Jessie the best way to salvage the fridge if the power is going to be out a while is storm stew. Put everything that won't fit in coolers and can't be frozen in a pot, cover with water, and simmer till the lights come back on. Clearing branches makes you hungry enough to eat it! =)

Hope they don't suffer too much without power and hope they don't suffer too long. Tell Jessie not to worry about Phat Fiber - the family comes first!

Hey Jill! If Jessie can get to Panera Bread it's a great place to recharge phones, laptops, mp3 players, etc. Free wi-fi, good coffee, and great scones! During Hurricane Ike, Panera kept me sane.

During Ike, I joined Audible.com and filled my mp3 player up with books. Great way to spend the evenings... knitting and listening to a good book. Helps to keep you from going absolutely crazy.

If there is anything that any of us can do to help, just say the word.

So glad everyone is safe, that's the important thing. Hope it's back to normal soon, but 'til then, Jessie - we're here, patiently waiting for you. Why not get a little well deserved rest?

The most important thing is that you're all well and your house is still standing.

Egads, them's some mighty large trees! Glad you are all safe, hope you didn't make the mistake I did, I have an electric stove! We had power out for 8 days once, and believe me, it's tough cooking a tuckey over a tea candle! Stay well and safe.

When we had an ice storm, i learned the fine art of cooking a cheap frozen pizza on the top of a stove with a pizza pan and 3 beer cans lol

I agree about the storm stew, I do that when there are too many leftover veggies in the fridge that need to be eaten!

If you have a grill, this would be a great time to use it too

I hope everyone is doing okay and that the damage wasn't too bad!

You will all be in my thoughts

Odd as it may seem, some of my fondest "family" memories are from times the power was out. The kids think it is quite an adventure and it's interesting to suddenly have no control over the things that we normally take so for granted. That being said, I hope things get back to normal soon for you and your family, Jessie!

WOW! These pictures are giving me serious Katrina flashbacks!! This is just what it looked like all over the city in Mississippi I lived in (100 miles inland!)! Happy to hear all are OK!

Somehow I just learned about what happened...must be sleep deprived. Thank you for the update Jill & let Jessie & Marcus know that there are many prayers going their way from many many people. They're so lucky that they're all well. Everything else will work itself out somehow. If there are things they need, or ways we can help, please post it. I'm sure there are enough of us Phaties willing to do what we can to help them.
