Light Brown Hare- Giveaway!

While I was browsing through a few hundred shawl patterns on Ravelry- I happened upon a new one by Dale of Light Brown Hare. It's called Supernova and although the yarn specified is no longer available, the pattern was written specifically for 1 6oz skein of her Jackrabbit fingering weight yarn. How easy can it get?! Just purchase a skein, download a pattern and you're on your way to a beautiful shawl/throw/tablecloth!

I have a skein of her Jackrabbit yarn in Nebula#5- and it's been whispering to me to make something out it!

So, it's a sad thing, but some of you have yet to try any Light Brown Hare yarn! Here is your chance! We're giving away this beautiful Nebula sock yarn (Shearlock not included) this week. Just Visit Light Brown Hare, find something you like, and write about it in the comments section below. Make sure you let everyone else know about it too! We'll count those tweeting/facebook udates as extra entries- let us know you did it!

Dale, I'm sure to cast on with my lovely Nebula yarn soon, and you can expect to see more of me lurking around your shop soon :)

The Love Blanket

Warning: I'm about to get real sappy and sentimental!

Some of you may know, in November, I lost my grandmother. The phatties took it upon themselves to create what I now call "The Love Blanket". This Love Blanket is comprised of many lovingly created blocks sewn together by Dani.

It was an amazing experience, opening the Love Blanket box. I spent a great deal of time pouring over all the different squares and on a quiet and cold afternoon alone, I opened and read all of the beautiful letters and notes of condolences. This blanket is a metaphor for so many things. The collective good wishes of the most wonderful fiber friends in the world, the idea of retaining your own individuality while contributing to the greater good, the warmth of a hug being just an arm's length away.

As Phat Fiber turns 1 this month, I can't help but get misty-eyed thinking about our group of amazing and talented fiber artists and the friendships that have been forged in the past year. This is truly the part of Phat Fiber that makes it shine from the inside out.
